I can’t recommend Sharon highly enough. Not only does her passion for empathy infect and captivate the audience, she’s also a joy to work with and remains calm in the face of adversity (cancelled flights!).

Driving Inclusion with Empathy

The workforce is more diverse than ever, yet the way we interact with each other doesn’t always reflect these ethnic and cultural differences. Navigating a world where we must constantly engage emotions, opinions and ideas that we don’t always understand or agree with doesn’t have to be impossible. In fact it can be greatly beneficial to team productivity, innovation, creativity and overall organizational success. This keynote results in HR professionals better understanding how to create, build and maintain a culture of inclusion through everyday empathy actions.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding the psychology behind inclusion in the workplace to fully take advantage of it on teams

  • Gain clarity on what inclusion actually looks and feels like on a day-to-day basis

  • Build a culture of inclusion that is confident, resilient and based in empathy

Communicating with Empathy

For true inclusion to thrive, everyone on the team needs to feel connected to both one another and to the overall goals of the organization. This keynote directs individuals to the mindset necessary to communicate empathetically. Key points are centered around exchanging “sympathy language” in favor of “empathy language,” and ideas explore how to approach every interaction - especially difficult ones - from a place of empathy. The result of this keynote is that individuals can be more confident communicators and teams more effective collaborators.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define what empathy is on their own terms, and they’ll understand how and why empathy is a benefit to any community or organization

  • Develop a system of communication rooted in patience, perspective and connection that they can defer to in difficult conversations

  • Be more confident communicators; more understanding and prepared collaborators; and more engaged team members
